For artist Babo, self-confident women are an inexhaustible theme that is varied in many ways in her works. She is not concerned with militant emancipation; the “eternal feminine” is not denied, it “draws us upward,” as Goethe, who was cultivated by strong women, suspected. At the same time, the erotic depiction never slips into the drastic or frivolous, and nudity is even used rather sparingly.
