ABOUT ARTIST
“Everything is so intense out there, it's overwhelming me. I prefer to be in my space and my little world, where my art gains meaning and function.”
Aron Demetz is a renowned artist in the international world of sculpture.
Demetz was born in 1972 in South Tyrol (Italy), a region known for its woodcarving. This tradition has strongly influenced his work, in which he explores themes such as nature, transformation, and human existence, using materials like wood, resin, and bronze.
Demetz's sculptures depict humanity and nature as a unity, reflecting the fragility of both. The burnt structures peel away the facade of the figurative forms, revealing their vulnerability to adverse elements, both literally and metaphorically. The wooden figures, reduced to charcoal, offer an interpretive perspective on the consequences of physical and emotional attacks.
Demetz's works are included in major international collections, including the Museo Daetz Centrum in Lichtenstein, Germany, the Museo Trauttmansdorff in Merano, Italy, the Museo Omero in Ancona, Italy, the Museo Ladin San Martin De Tor in Bolzano, Italy, the Palazzo Madama in Rome, Italy, the Fondazione Michetti, and the Beelden en Zee Museum and many others.
